Bahrain Transport Ministry wins World Summit award
Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications for Bahrain, participated in the World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2022. The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications of Bahrain won the World Summit on the Information Society 2021 (WSIS) award, which was given by the United Nations and the International Telecommunication Union.
With the electronic Nawras system for issuing aircraft permits, the winning project in the electronic environment category, the ministry participated. The participation of the ministry reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in the implementation of the economic vision led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Having won the World Summit on the Information Society Award for the electronic environment category for its link to summit outputs, especially the Summit’s work lines, Nawras supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, since the system transformed the work environment for flight permits and scheduling into an electronic environment.
The Information and e-Government Authority received an award for the Digital Policies Project and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development received an award for the Digital Employment Project for achieving the final stages as part of the distinguished projects of the year 2022.
